CDG announces Entrepreneuza!

The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG) has announced a new event to celebrate and reach out to small business entrepreneurs. Titled Entrepreneuza, the event will take place Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the former Maya building, 121 1st St. NW.

The purpose of the event is to show the results of the most recent marketing study created this summer by members of the CDG Business Improvement (BI) Committee and representatives from Main Street Iowa. Robin Bostrum, Business Specialist from Main Street Iowa, will be on hand to share and analyze these results as well as ESRI’s most recent demographics within the 5, 10 and 20-minute drive-time from Main Street Mount Vernon.

Also on hand will be photos and specs from several available buildings in both Mount Vernon and Lisbon. And a brief discussion about the possibilities of these available spaces will be led by members of the BI Committee. All are welcome to attend but entrepreneurs young and old and all building and business owners (present and future) are encouraged to attend.

“This event is the culmination of a tremendous amount of work by the CDG BI Committee,” said Barb Ihde, Volunteer Chair of the event. “We have known for some time that Mount Vernon and Lisbon is full of entrepreneurs, many of whom are just in need of a place to start. We wanted to host this event to show our local entrepreneurs all the options and assistance available to get them started.”

The event will include loose meat sandwiches provided by Addy’s Public House and fresh-brewed beer provided by Big’s BBQ Brewpub.

The event is free and open to the public. More information is available through Joe Jennison, CDG Director, at (319) 210-9935 or through email at [email protected]
