CDG to partner with Go Daddy’s Casey O’Connor

The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG), a Main Street Iowa organization, today announced details of a small business workshop that will take place Thursday, June 30, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the library of the First Street Community Center, 221 1st St. NE, Mount Vernon.

The event, led by Mount Vernon resident and Go Daddy Customer Consultation & Care Supervisor Casey O’Connor, will focus on getting businesses online.

O’Connor plans to focus on these four simple strategies:

  1. Brand — Understanding and defining your brand that connects to your audience.
  2. Presence — What kind of user experience clients will have when they are on your website?
  3. Productivity – How will you professionally communicate with your clients?
  4. Growth — What actions are you taking to ensure that SEO best practices are in place, presence on listings, Website best practices, choosing a domain, and some social media points?

“This is the type of work that we do every day at Go Daddy,” says O’Connor. “If I can help a few small businesses in my own community succeed by just sharing the work I do every day, then of course, I am happy to help.”

O’Connor plans a 45-minute presentation, followed by a question-and-answer period, and will be bringing a simple form to help small businesses plan a Website, as well as a beginner’s guide and resources to get them started. “I am confident that I can teach anyone to do this type of work,” he says.

Because the workshop will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m., CDG is planning to offer some appetizers, water, soda and wine. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP (for food and beverage planning) to Joe Jennison at [email protected].
