The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG), a Main Street Iowa organization, has announced a new fundraiser to take place Friday, April 7, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The fundraiser has been created to raise awareness and seed money for the upcoming 2018 Smithsonian Museum on Main Street exhibit, set to tour to Mount Vernon from March 16, 2018, to April 30, 2018. Mount Vernon will be one of six Iowa communities chosen to host the Smithsonian’s “Home Town Teams: How Sports Shaped America,” and will be the first community in Iowa to host this particular Smithsonian exhibit.
The fundraiser event is being created in conjunction with One Mission Fundraising (www.onemissionfundraising.com) and the First Street Community Center, and will include an online campaign as well as a wine and cheese reception, silent auction and live show. The event is planned to take place at both One Mission, 108 1st St. SE, Mount Vernon; and the First Street Community Center, 221 1st St. SE, Mount Vernon, on Friday, April 7.
The A-Go-Go Fundraising Team (the team behind the Frank Benesh Memorial Telethon and the Uptown Theater Honors programs) have agreed to create a live performance as part of the fundraising event.
Tickets to the fundraising event will be available for purchase in March.
