11th Annual Lincoln Highway Arts Festival

The Lincoln Highway Art Festival will be on September 24, 2016.

This event is presented by the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council with support from the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group and the City of Mount Vernon.

More than 50 artists and entertainers will join the event to celebrate art, music, and creativity.

Mickey Woods will be honored for a mural depicting a view of historical Mount Vernon that the Mount Vernon Historical Preservation Commission preserved and arranged to hang in Mount Vernon City Hall.  It will be unveiled in the city council chambers at 1:00 p.m.

The Lincoln Highway Arts Festival will also include:

  • Demonstrations of a potter’s wheel by Andy Gemmell
  • Dance demonstrations by Dance Arts of Iowa
  • An exhibit displaying Mount Vernon’s animatronics collection, that are displayed during the holiday season
  • A variety of art activities for kids
  • The creation of a temporary mural in the lower level parking lot south of First Street
  • Music by Goin’ Up Caney:  10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Music by the Deep Dish Divas:  1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
