Here’s your chance to learn about the Palisades-Kepler State Park History! Jerry Reisinger, the Park Ranger for the Palisades-Kepler State Park from 1992 to 1998, will give a presentation focusing on the developmental history of the park. This discussion will cover the events that led up to the area functioning as a park to modern times.

Learn about Palisades-Kepler State Park History:
  • Did you know there was a resort that existed prior to the area becoming a state park?
  • Are you interested in old photographs, government documents, newspaper articles?
  • Would you like to learn from personal interviews with members of the Civilian Conservation Corps that helped develop the park and past park rangers?

This program was developed by Jerry as his master’s thesis. He worked for 38 years with the DNR in the Iowa state parks system as a park ranger and as a regional supervisor for 14 state parks in northeast Iowa. Currently Jerry is a professor of Parks and Natural Resources at Kirkwood Community College.
