Writers Night at the Pal

Palisades Café is hosting an event that will foster the large pool of Eastern Iowa writers and poets to create an evening of short readings. “Writer’s Night at The Pal” will be a night when writers are asked to bring an original 10-minute piece to read live on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Hosted by local writer, storyteller and playwright, Joe Jennison, the event is meant to complement the Open Mic Night currently scheduled down the street at the Lincoln Wine Bar (which takes place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month).

“We have noticed that a lot of our customers are writers, poets and/or avid readers,” says general manager, Elizabeth Gibson. “As we settle in to fall, we thought now might be the perfect time to ask some of them to share their work with us and invite the larger community to stop in, hear some new work read, and sample our new small plate menu, wine and beer, or dessert and coffee.”

Writers and poets of any age or experience level are invited to participate. Those interested in taking part should contact Joe Jennison direct at [email protected] prior to the date they would like to read. Every week, there will be one 10-minute slot available to an attendee on the night of the event.
