Lincoln Highway Arts Fest to take place Sept. 16

The Mount Vernon Area Arts Council announced that the 12th Annual Lincoln Highway Arts Festival will take place Saturday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Uptown Mount Vernon. More than 50 artists and entertainers from across the region are scheduled to gather at the event to celebrate art, music and creativity.

In addition to the art, the festival will feature demonstrations by Andy Gemmell, a local potter working on a potter’s wheel, and Dance Arts Iowa, a Mount Vernon dance troupe for young people. There will also be art activities for kids.

Music will be provided by Randy Swift and Beth Payne, a classic duo out of Washington, Iowa from 10 am to 12:30 pm and the Mississippi String Band from 1:30 to 4:00 pm.
