Writers’ Night is August 29

Mount Vernon Creates and the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council have announced the date for its August Writers Night event. The event is scheduled to take place Thursday, August 29, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon Creates, 121 1st St. NW, Mount Vernon.

Writers’ Night is a combination storytelling and spoken word event where local and regional writers and poets are asked to bring a 10-minute piece to read live on the last Thursday of the month. Audiences are invited to sit and listen or bring their own work to share. All writers are welcome to bring and read their work regardless of age or experience level.

“This will be the third installment of Writers’ Night at Mount Vernon Creates,” said event organizer Joe Jennison. “We have been growing a database of local regional writers simply from the audiences who show up to read and listen. This installment of Writers’ Night is clearly gaining some real traction.”

The event is meant to encourage local and regional writing talent, regardless of content, format or style. Writers who like to read their work out loud and are interested in taking part, should contact Joe Jennison direct at [email protected]
