Those interested in participating in the Lisbon Community Pride Cleanup Day, managed by the City of Lisbon, are asked to report to the Lisbon History Center, 102 E. Main St., Lisbon, on Saturday, April 16, at 7 a.m. The Lisbon event will be over by 9 a.m. to accommodate the 80th birthday celebration of the Lisbon Public Library.

Those interested in participating in the Mount Vernon Cleanup Day, managed by CDG and the City of Mount Vernon, are asked to report to Mount Vernon City Hall, 213 First St. NW, Mount Vernon, on Saturday, April 30, at 8 a.m., and will go until all projects are finished (usually just after noon).

More than 80 volunteers are needed in each community to sweep, shovel, pick up, rake or otherwise polish the 12-block area up and down 1st Street Mount Vernon, and Main Street Lisbon, as well as parks and other areas in both communities. Both communities have been divided into several “zones,” with each zone assigned a “zone captain” to manage volunteer time and duties.

The CDG is working very closely with the City of Mount Vernon and the City of Lisbon to create simple, clean-up projects throughout the Cities that can be managed by all ages of volunteers. All volunteers are asked to sign up through the Volunteer icon on the right-hand side of the Main page of visitmvl.com and check-in at either (or both!) Lisbon History Center and/or Mount Vernon City Hall at the appropriate day and time.

The CDG and both cities will have rakes, shovels, brooms and garbage bags available but everyone is encouraged to bring yard tools from home marked very clearly with their name or initials. The goal is to make the two downtown areas spotless for the beginning of the summer festival season. Questions, can be directed to Joe Jennison at [email protected]
