Deborah Jian Lee Lecture and Book Signing

The Center for the Literary Arts welcomes Distinguished Visiting Journalist Deborah Jian Lee, who will read from “Rescuing Jesus: How People of Color, Women, and Queer Christians Are Reclaiming Evangelicalism.”  “Rescuing Jesus” reports on the intersection of evangelical faith with race, gender, sexuality, and progressive politics.

An alum of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, Lee is an award-winning journalist and radio producer. Her stories have been published by Slate, The Atlantic, Foreign Policy, New York, Reuters, GOOD, SELF, Hemispheres, WBEZ, and WNYC, and she was formerly a staff reporter at The Associated Press.

She is on campus during Block 7 teaching ENG 382: Reporting from the Margins.

“Rescuing Jesus” is available in the bookstore and will be sold at the event.

This lecture is in the Reading Room of the Van Etten-Lacey House.
