O’Connor to offer SEO training to small businesses

The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG), a Main Street Iowa organization, today announced details of a small business workshop that will take place Wednesday, March 1, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the library of the First Street Community Center, 221 1st St. NE, Mount Vernon.

The event, the third in a series of Web site development workshops led by Mount Vernon resident and Go Daddy Customer Consultation & Care Supervisor Casey O’Connor, will focus on SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

For this workshop, O’Connor will focus on fundamental best practices for marketing and SEO. These will be low budget and/or free actions that attendees will be empowered to utilize to increase a business Web presence.

“This is the type of work that we do every day at Go Daddy,” says O’Connor. “If I can help a few small businesses in my own community succeed by just sharing the work I do every day, then of course, I am happy to help.”

O’Connor plans a 45-minute presentation, followed by a question-and-answer period, and will be bringing a simple form to help small businesses plan their SEO strategy, as well as a beginner’s guide and resources to get them started. “I am confident that I can teach anyone to do this type of work,” he says.

Because the workshop will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m., CDG is planning to offer some appetizers, water, soda and wine. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP (for food and beverage planning) to Joe Jennison at [email protected].

All are welcome to attend free of charge with RSVP.
