Cornell Theatre: “The Rocky Horror Show”

The Rocky Horror Show is a hilarious homage to classic B sci-fi and horror films that may be best known for its original leading man, Tim Curry, and for the audience participation that is strongly encouraged throughout this playfully subversive, more than slightly raunchy, ride through the time-warp.  This wildly campy musical hit the London stage in 1973 and went on to become the classic cult film where audiences arrived in costume, threw props, shouted responses and danced in the aisles.  Vulgar jokes, racy costumes, puns, and pop-culture references make it for mature audiences who are ready to laugh their way through this naughty, off-beat musical spoof.

In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite scientist.  As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler.  Audiences will join the party hosted by a secret and rotating guest narrator each night of the production. (You won’t believe who’s stepping into this role!)  Following the tradition of high audience interaction, there will be a costume contest and audiences may purchase a Rocky Horror Prop Bag for a nominal fee.

This production is intended for adult audiences.
