Homelessness in Our Area – Speakers from Willis Dady Homeless Shelter

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mount Vernon is hosting representatives from the Willis Dady Homeless Shelter and Services located in Cedar Rapids. Aaron Amundson, Development Director, and Kelsey Culver, Employment Services Director, will share details about the specific services provided by Willis Dady as well as how we can assist those in need.

Willis Dady Homeless Service’s mission is to empower all experiencing homelessness to build futures of self-sufficiency through advocacy, housing and employment. It is their mission to have a community where everyone has housing, stability and opportunity.

Solidarity, one of the seven Catholic Social Teachings is the focus of this talk. Solidarity means we are attentive to the needs of others and this awareness leads to action. We will be collecting much needed items for Willis Dady in January, 2024.

This event is open to the general public. It is our hope that we come together to learn about this national crisis and assist those nearby. All are welcome to attend. There will be homemade kolaches and drinks provided.
