Martial Arts for Fitness

This class uses basic Karate kicks, punches, strikes, and blocks for fitness. It’s a great way to develop aerobic and strength/ power using controlled movements. This high-powered catharsis session offers an opportunity to relieve repressed emotions.

Choreographed rhythmic sessions (kata) will be included for unison scaffolding of the learnt skills. This session does not include hand-to-hand combat or sparring. Each session ends with muscle toning exercises while emphasizing on controlled breathing and relaxation. No prior experience in martial arts is required. You will learn a few Japanese words as well.

Open to all Cornell College students, faculty, staff, and community members.
