Red Cedar Chamber Music’s Old Friends
Enjoy Red Chamber Music’s Rural Outreach at Sts. Peter & Paul Chapel featuring “Old Friends,” which celebrated a friendship rekindled after over 30 years.
This event is free and open to the public.
Choong-Jin Chang, principal violist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, joins the core ensemble in a program for violin, viola, and cello. A classmate of Miera’s at the Curtis Institute of Music in the late 1980’s, Choong-Jin and Miera reconnected a few years ago when the Philadelphia Orchestra performed at Hancher Auditorium. Choong-Jin has made time in his busy performance and teaching schedule to come experience Iowa.
The program includes works by living American composers Ingrid Stölzel and Andrea Casarrubios, Beethoven’s String Trio Op. 9 No. 3, and features the viola as soloist as we give the Red Cedar treatment to Bach’s Sonata No. 2 in D Major, BWV 1028 for Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord Obligato.
Featuring the following musicians:
- Miera Kim, violin
- Choong-Jin Chang, viola
- Carey Bostian, cello
