The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG), a Main Street Iowa organization, and Cornell College will host a Superhero Supertour via Trolley on Saturday, Oct. 29, from noon to 4 p.m.
The event will feature a Superhero theme and include eight stops in Mount Vernon and Lisbon, and is designed to better acclimate Cornell students to the products and services that are available in Mount Vernon and Lisbon.
The tour is a continuous loop from Cornell through Mount Vernon and Lisbon and will begin and end at the Cornell College Commons Circle. Students and others can get on and off at any of the eight stops throughout the tour. Final pickup is at 3:30 p.m.
Stops include:

- City Hall, 213 First St. NW, Mount Vernon
“This tour came out of a Cornell student-led survey done on campus last year,” said Joe Jennison, Director of Main Street and Marketing for the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG). “The tour was a suggestion by the students themselves as a way to get them more comfortable with the products and services available in Mount Vernon and Lisbon. And we, of course, are happy to help.”
Because the event will take place Halloween weekend during a block break, CDG volunteers will act as guides and will be dressed as Superheroes both on the trolley and at stops along the route. The event will include maps, a brief history discussion, and $200 in Community Cash giveaways. The tour has been created specifically for Cornell College students but the general public is welcome to take the tour as well.
