CDG sets date for April fundraiser

The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG), a Main Street Iowa organization, has announced a new fundraiser to take place Friday, April 7, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The fundraiser has been created to raise awareness and seed money for the upcoming 2018 Smithsonian Museum on Main Street exhibit, set to tour to Mount Vernon from March 18, 2018, to April 29, 2018. Mount Vernon will be one of six Iowa communities chosen to host the Smithsonian’s “Home Town Teams: How Sports Shaped America,” and will be the first community in Iowa to host this particular Smithsonian exhibit.

The fundraiser event is being created in conjunction with One Mission Fundraising (www.onemissionfundraising.com) and the First Street Community Center, and will include an online campaign as well as a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception, silent auction and live show featuring musical performances with a sports theme. The event will take place at both One Mission, 108 1st St. SE, Mount Vernon; and the First Street Community Center, 221 1st St. SE, Mount Vernon, on Friday, April 7.

Tickets to the fundraising event are $20 and are available for purchase at Bauman’s, the First Street Community Center, Hills Bank, Mount Vernon Bank & Trust and the Mount Vernon Visitor Center. Food and Silent Auction donations are being solicited by the board and staff of the CDG. More information is available through (319) 210-9935.
