Mount Vernon Creates and the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council have announced the date for its November Writers Night event. The event is scheduled to take place Thursday, Jan. 23, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon Creates, 121 1st St. NW, Mount Vernon.
Writers’ Night is a combination storytelling and spoken word event where local and regional writers and poets are asked to bring a 10-minute piece to read live on the last Thursday of the month. Audiences are invited to sit and listen or bring their own work to share. All writers are welcome to bring and read their work regardless of age or experience level.
The event is meant to encourage local and regional writing talent, regardless of content, format or style. Writers who like to read their work out loud and are interested in taking part, should contact Denise Murphy at (319) 541-9171.
