The first U.S. transcontinental roadway, built in 1913, ran through the heart of Mount Vernon and Lisbon. Original markers can still be found near the Visitor’s Center on First Street in Mount Vernon and and on East Main Street in Lisbon. The original Lincoln Highway bridge over the railroad tracks is a must see.
