The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group is excited to introduce our new Executive Director Jessie Thurn, who officially started Monday, July 15. You can find Jessie throughout the day, Monday through Friday, working from her homebase at the Visitor’s Center located at 311 1st St NW by Memorial Park in Mount Vernon. If the lights are on, all are welcome to stop in and ask questions or just say hello!
A native of Mount Vernon, Jessie is excited to put her strengths in project management and continuous improvement to work in her new role as well as leverage her existing knowledge of Mount Vernon and Lisbon. As Mount Vernon is a Main Street Iowa community, Jessie is currently working through their onboarding program while also attending numerous committee and festival meetings. Jessie will also represent Mount Vernon as a Main Street Iowa community at the 2024 Iowa Downtown Conference in Cedar Rapids in August. Stay tuned for updates as Jessie plans to share her thoughts, experiences, and information she learns as she gets caught-up-to-speed in her new role!
Jessie’s favorite thing about the Mount Vernon-Lisbon area is that she rarely needs to leave town to find what she needs whether it be food, clothes, entertainment, or professional services! Jessie spends her free time visiting the many beautiful parks, playgrounds, and pools with her family. She currently resides in Mount Vernon with her husband TJ and children Mack and Ari.
