The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG), a Main Street Iowa Organization, hosted a volunteer recognition celebration on Monday, August 28, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Vernon. The “Volunteer Prom” celebrated the 472 registered CDG volunteers who cumulatively have logged more than 47,620 volunteer hours since the organization began in 2008.
           Awards given out that night included:
           Volunteer of the Year, Braden Rood
           Committee of the Year, Nitty Gritty Antique Festival Committee
            Business of the Year, Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon
           Citizen(s) of the Year, Amy White and Cathy Boggs
           Board Member Recognition, Stephanie West, Beryl O’Connor
