MOUNT VERNON – The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Charitable Development Group (CCDG) today announced a Community Volunteer Fair taking place at the Lester Buresh Family Community Wellness Center (LBC), 855 Palisades Road SW, Mount Vernon, Saturday, May 13, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Mount Vernon and Lisbon residents of all ages are asked to join area volunteers to inform the public about the many volunteer opportunities in Mount Vernon and Lisbon.
Volunteer booths will be set up inside the LBC gym featuring representatives from several nonprofit groups including:
- Chalk the Walk
- Chili Cook-off
- Chocolate Stroll
- Easter Egg Dash
- HalloweenTown
- Heritage Days
- Lisbon Fire Department
- Lisbon History Center
- Lisbon-Mount Vernon Ambulance Service

“Mount Vernon and Lisbon regularly break records for the number of individual volunteers and volunteer hours that are recorded here each and every year” said Joe Jennison, Director of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Charitable Development Group. “All of us who work non-profit in these two towns are well aware of the work of volunteers in this community. We decided to get all of us in one room at one time to share our information with the entire community. Please join us and learn how you can make a difference in your own backyard.”
A volunteer form will be available at the event featuring listings of several area nonprofits. Guests will be asked to get the form signed by as many nonprofits as possible. Forms returned to the info desk inside the Volunteer Fair by the end of the fair will be entered into a drawing to win $50 worth of Community Cash good for any business in Mount Vernon or Lisbon.
