Anna Wilson of The Local/Glyn Mawr Winery, 103 1st St. NW, won a total of $10,500 in the annual Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Open4Business Contest. The contest took place in Sioux City at the annual Iowa Downtown Conference.
The Local/Glyn Mawr Winery is the 7th Mount Vernon business to make it to the finals of this competition in the last nine years, making Mount Vernon the most represented community in the competition since the contest began.
The Local/Glyn Mawr’s application outlined a desire to purchase a custom food truck to be permanently located on The Local/Glyn Mawr patio, an indoor refrigeration system to store food, as well as a pager system to alert customers to when their food is ready.
Anna and her team received $500 from CDG for expenses to travel to the Sioux City competition and back, $5,000 from the state as one of the Top 5 competitors chosen this year, and another $5,000 as a 4th place winner.
