Canton Studios wins $5,000 BE Lisbon grant

The City of Lisbon and the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG), a Main Street Iowa organization, today announced that Canton Studios in downtown Lisbon has won the $5,000 BE Lisbon Grant.

The Business Enhancement (BE) Lisbon grant competition has been modeled after the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s (IEDA) Open 4 Business grant competition. As the winning BE Lisbon business, Canton Studios will be expected to provide a 25% cash match for a project or projects detailed in its application.

According to sole proprietor Rebecca Hess, Canton Studios plans to use the BE Lisbon funds to assist in the addition of retail to the Canton Glass Studio Business Plan. The plan includes marketing, retail space reconfiguration, Point of Sales supplies, inventory and tools, including the design and launch of a new web site and a social media presence.

Canton Studios was picked as the winner by an ad hoc committee made up of two former winners of the annual grant award and committee chair Joe Jennison of the CDG under the direction and oversight of Brandon Siggins of the City of Lisbon.
