CDG announces After-hours Program Devoted to Grants

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG), a Main Street Iowa community, has announced an after-hours entrepreneuza event led by Michael Wagler, Main Street Iowa Coordinator from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA). The event titled “Grants Available through the IEDA,” will take place Tuesday, March 19, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Cornell College, 600 1st St. SW, Mount Vernon.

The event is part of a series of after-hours discussions put together by the Economic Vitality (EV) committee of the CDG, and will offer a deep dive into the various grants available through the IEDA, including grants available to those businesses in the 12-block Mount Vernon Main Street District, as well as grants for businesses outside of the District but within the Mount Vernon and Lisbon area.

“This committee wanted to continue our good work re: filling the needs of our business community,” said Joe Jennison, Director of Main Street and Marketing for CDG. “And the number one question we get from the business community is regarding financial help through grants. The state has several grants available, and we thought a program devoted specifically to those grants would be of interest to our business community both within the Main Street District and outside the Main Street District.”

The event will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, with wine, soda and beer available for purchase.

The event is free and open to the public, however those planning to attend should respond to Joe Jennison, for food planning purposes. To RSVP or for more information, contact Joe Jennison, CDG Director, at (319) 210-9935 or through email at [email protected]
