Cornell College Welcomes Students with Community Scavenger Hunt in Mount Vernon
MOUNT VERNON, IA – Cornell College is welcoming its newest Rams to campus with a fun, community-centered event designed to introduce students to local businesses, retail shops, services, and organizations. The New Student Orientation Scavenger Hunt will take place on Saturday, August 23rd, from approximately 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, along 1st Street in Mount Vernon.
As part of orientation activities, students will participate in a Ram Scavenger Hunt throughout the 1st Street corridor. They’ll search for small ram cutouts placed inside or in the windows of participating businesses. For each ram they find, students will take a photo, post it on social media, and tag @visitmvl and @cornellcollege to be entered into a raffle for Community Cash.
This engaging event gives students an opportunity to explore Mount Vernon, connect with local retailers, service providers, and community organizations, and get to know their new community—right at the start of their college journey.
The event is being coordinated in partnership with the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group and the Cornell College Office of New Student Orientation.
