Magical Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, IA — Magical Night in Mount Vernon is back, this time with a new name, date, and extended hours. The committee has announced that Magical Mount Vernon will take place on Saturday, December 6, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This change aims to better serve the community and support local businesses. The event is presented by the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG), a Main Street Iowa organization.

This year, the committee decided to shift the event from its usual Thursday night to Saturday to create a more relaxed atmosphere. Magical Mount Vernon will last for five hours instead of three. Familiar favorites such as visits with Santa at the Mount Vernon Bank, Anamontroics at the Presbyterian Church, and Living Nativity performances at Memorial Park are all planned for the event. Due to logistics, the traditional trolley rides will not be available this year. Instead, streets will remain open, encouraging visitors and community members to shop throughout historic Mount Vernon.

“This year, the CDG has welcomed a new Volunteer Chair for the Magical Mount Vernon Committee, Paige Eby. Paige has worked diligently with the committee this year to prepare for this new vision. Much of what people love about Magical Night will smoothly transition to Magical Mount Vernon,” noted Executive Director Jessie Thurn.

The Magical Mount Vernon Committee will continue to provide updates on activity schedules, business promotions, and entertainment details. If you are interested in joining the committee or volunteering, please sign up via https://visitmvl.com/contribute-volunteer/.
