The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group and the Heritage Days Committee are excited to announce that Heritage Days 2026 will take place Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, bringing the community together for two days of celebration, connection, and hometown pride. This year’s theme, “250 Years of America, and still one hill of a town,” honors the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary while celebrating the spirit that makes Mount Vernon unique.
Friday, July 10 festivities will be held at the Lester Buresh Community Center and will feature family-friendly activities including bouncy houses, food and drink trucks, live music, and the Heritage Days Pickleball Tournament.
Friday evening will introduce an exciting new event — the Heritage Days 5K Fun Run at 8:00 PM, starting and finishing at the Martha Parsons Activities Center. Runners and spectators alike are encouraged to stay after the race for the Third Annual Heritage Days Drone Show at dark.
Saturday, July 11 will begin with familiar favorites, including the Alumni and Community Breakfast at the Mount Vernon High School Commons, followed by the beloved Heritage Days Parade celebrating 250 Years of America.
The Heritage Days Committee has listened to community feedback and is enhancing the full day of entertainment to be more inclusive and engaging for all ages. These improvements come with additional costs, and the committee is grateful for the generous support of local partners. Gary’s Foods has selected Heritage Days as the beneficiary of its Round-Up at the Register program during the weeks of April 12 and April 19. Funds raised will go directly toward expanding entertainment options for families throughout the festival.
