Magical Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, IA — Magical Night in Mount Vernon is back, this time with a new name, date, and extended hours! The committee previously announced that Magical Mount Vernon will take place on Saturday, December 6, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This change aims to serve the community better and support local businesses. The event is presented by the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG), a Main Street Iowa organization.

“The committee has worked for several years to shift the event from Thursday to Saturday. The logistics of hosting it on a weeknight have become increasingly challenging. By moving the event to Saturday, attendees will have more time to enjoy the attractions. Additionally, we encourage community members and visitors to shop and dine locally,” explained Jessie Thurn, Executive Director. “Committee Chair Paige Eby and I were thrilled to see so many businesses extending their hours to align with a full day of Magical Mount Vernon. This creates a wonderful opportunity for a day of entertainment and supporting small businesses.”

A shuttle bus will pick up from two locations: Back Porch Pickers (616 1st Ave N) and St. John Catholic Church (212 7th St SE). There will also be additional reserved Handicap Parking located at First Street Community Center (221 1st Street NE) and the United Methodist Church (312 1st Street W).
