Mount Vernon’s Smithsonian Museum on Main exhibit “Home Town Teams: How Sports Shape America” will be featured on Iowa Public Radio’s Talk of Iowa on Tuesday, April 17, from 10 to 10:40 a.m.

Host Charity Nebbe spent much of Monday afternoon, April 15, getting a private tour of the exhibit with Joe Jennison, Director of Main Street and Marketing for the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group.
The exhibit is the first time the Smithsonian has brought this particular program to Iowa in 15 years, and “Home Town Teams” is the Iowa premiere of this particular exhibit. Visitors can see the exhibit Wednesdays through Sundays at the First Street Community Center, 221 1st St. NE, Mount Vernon through April 29.
After Mount Vernon, the exhibit will tour to Ottumwa, Guthrie Center, Jefferson, Ames and Conrad.
Hometown Teams is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and Iowa Economic Authority’s Main Street Iowa program. Nationally, support for Museum on Main Street has been provided by the United States Congress. Conrad.
