Mount Vernon-Lisbon businesses have joined a Facebook-inspired seek-and-find event that asks homeowners and businesses to put stuffed teddy bears in their windows to allow families the opportunity to window shop from a safe distance, including the safety of their own cars.
Andrea Gorsh, owner of Kae Apothecary in Mount Vernon, noticed the trend through Facebook and reached out to businesses in Uptown Mount Vernon. Several have joined in and all residences and businesses across the area are being asked to post photos through their own Facebook accounts. A Facebook event has been created and to date has reached over 3,000 people.
“Mount Vernon is well known throughout the area for its 14 festivals and events,” said Gorsh. “So, of course, during this difficult time, all of us who live and do business here want to create events that can be done safely and virtually. We will not allow this virus to limit our joy.”
Photos of the community’s teddy bear windows are being collected and are posted below. If you spot one, take a photo and send it to [email protected] to have it added to the online display.
