The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG), a Main Street Iowa organization, today announced that planning is underway for its 4th of July Nitty Gritty (formerly known as the Lincoln Highway Antiques Extravaganza).
The event will take place Monday, July 4, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Uptown Mount Vernon, Iowa, and features repurposed, vintage, industrial, primitive, architectural salvage and antiques.
“The very popular antique festival is back and we are expecting thousands of shoppers” said Nitty Gritty Volunteer Chair Karrie Clark. “We have expanded the festival area to include space in front of the First Street Community Center, 211 1st St. NE, and are preparing for larger crowds and more dealers.”
The Nitty Gritty remains popular with the antique-buying public because of its Uptown location on a hill that allows the festival to go on rain or shine. And the festival’s location right in front of Mount Vernon’s air-conditioned shops and restaurants, including multiple antique shops, offers a comfortable retreat from the outdoor, open-air festival.
